FAQ
Where are you located?
I am currently located in Silverthorne, Colorado in Summit County. My telehealth appointments are through Simple Practice which is also my charting software. In the event that those telehealth links aren’t working, I also have an online office at Https://doxy.me/tashadcounseling.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I am currently in network with United Healthcare, Optum, Cigna, Aetna, Oscar, Oxford, Lucent Summit County Government Plan, Building Hope Scholarships, Mountain Strong EAP, and Olivia’s Fund. I am out of network for all other insurance companies. I process my insurance claims through a company called Headway. You will need to make an account with them and keep a credit card on file in order to use insurance for our counseling sessions.
What are your hours?
I am available from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If you need an appointment for after work or school, ask and we can work something out to accommodate your schedule.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes. This is considered a full “clinical hour” and is standard across most practices in the USA. I can also accommodate 75-minute sessions or a 50-minute session twice a week. I charge by the hour.
What is superbilling?
Superbilling is essentially a receipt for out of network health services. I will provide you with a form after each session that has the proper insurance codes and information.
You simply mail this to your insurance company and based on your benefits, they may reimburse you a certain percentage or simply use the cost of sessions to count towards your deductible.
How do I set up an initial appointment?
Give me a call. I offer 15 minute phone consultations. If you decide that you would like to work with me, I will create a chart for you in my charting software called Simple Practice which will be able to get you all of my onboarding paperwork for electronic signature. Also, if email is easier, you are welcome to correspond with me at tashadomashovetzcounseling@gmail.com. Sometimes, this is the quickest way to get a hold of me. You are also welcome to text me at 720.260.4643. This is my clinic number but is text capable and useful for quick scheduling communication so we don’t have to worry about phone tag.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require cancellations 24 hours before an appointment.
If an appointment is cancelled within 24 hours for non-emergency purposes, it will be considered a late cancellation and the full cost of the session will still be due.
What age ranges do you work with?
12 and up!
Do you work with women? Men? Couples?
Right now, I only offer sessions for individuals identifying as any gender or sexual orientation. I am LGBTQIA+ allied as well as cultural competency/sensitivity trained (meaning, I don’t work with only white people from the USA).
What do you actually do in sessions with clients?
We sit, you talk, I give feedback, you tell me if I’m full of it or if the feedback was good for you. Lather, rinse, repeat.
My primary specialty is Psychodynamic Counseling which is a type of talk therapy that focuses on building insight based on the content of counseling appointments. It is useful for a wide variety of mental health topics. The topics I specialize in are Mood Disorders, ADHD, Autism, Depression/Anxiety, OCD, Trauma, and Religious Trauma/Cult Recovery.
I meet online with all clients, but do not associate with platforms like Better Help as I uphold a boutique approach to mental health care so each client’s unique needs can be better addressed.
Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?
No.
I’ll make suggestions of things you can try. Whatever sticks in your mind when you leave is usually what I’d want you to focus on. Counseling is like skiing that way. Ski the run you’re on instead of looking over at one on a different peak. You won’t hit trees that way!
What modalities do you use in your client work?
Primarily a blend of Psychodynamic Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
All of my care is trauma informed.
What is your professional training and experience?
I’ve worked at an inpatient addictions treatment hospital and as a counselor at a local psychiatric hospital in the inpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs for both adults and adolescents. I have been studying psychology since 2009. I have my Master of the Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and graduated in the winter of 2016. I have been in private practice since the fall of 2018. I currently meet regularly with a consultant who was formerly my supervisor to keep up with my continuing education. I have also been working towards receiving a certification in ADHD specialty care.
What else does a client need to know to succeed with you?
Come ready to talk.
While I want you to go at your own pace, I still need content to work with. If you find that you’re having difficulty figuring out what you’d like to talk about in sessions, keep a journal handy throughout the week.
I’ve struggled with this before in my own counseling sessions, so I have an app on my phone (since we all always have our phones with us all the time. Just own it. I ain’t judging) where I will write down things that pop into my head that I want to discuss with my counselor. I will also summarize confusing thoughts or emotions I experience throughout the week that I can’t process on my own and want help with.
It might seem simple, but it’s a GREAT way to get your thoughts in order about what you’d like to talk about. If you decide that you get to session and want to talk about something else, that’s fine too! But the journaling will really help boost your mindfulness in the meantime.
I see you went to Seminary. Does that make you a nun?
You should know that I wear a full habit and go by Sister Tasha and request that you cross yourself with holy water before entering my office…which would be hilarious if it were true.
No, I am not a nun and I actually don’t incorporate faith into sessions unless requested and even then, we will talk about the very specific parameters that you would like to bring in. I chose to attend Denver Seminary, which is a faith-based academic institution in Littleton, CO, because they place very strong emphasis on counselor self-awareness and equipping practitioners to hold emotional spaces. This is all to avoid counselor biases and influences.
So, we can talk shop about faith, religion, Christianity, atheism, Buddhism, deism, whatever you like. This is a nonjudgmental space for you to explore your inner world!
